Ring of Kerry Guided Holiday

Impossibly green pastures stretch as far as the eye can see, completely empty save for small herds of sheep or goats, and at almost every turn there are spectacular views of mist-covered mountains and wild stretches of uninhabitable coastline where deep fissures have been carved, over the eons, by the pounding waves of the Atlantic Ocean. This is a guided walking holiday to remember.

Burren and Connemara Guided Holiday

Connemara is an imposing landscape of lakes, moorland and rugged mountains.  It has some of the most extensive areas of blanket bog in Europe and is home to many heathland and bogland plants such as the Insectivorous Sundew and Butterwort and a rich variety of heaths and heathers.  Great tracts of lake, mountain and moorland stretch as far as the eye can see, across its northern boundaries, and to the south lie deep, rugged bays filled with tiny islands and fringed by orange and black seaweed. This is like no other guided walking holiday

Burren Aran Mini-break Guided Holiday

The Aran Islands, Inisheer, (near island), Inishmaan, (middle island), and Inishmore, (big island) are unique amongst the islands of Ireland.  Geologically they are similar to the Burren, many of the fields consisting of little more than bare limestone.  The islanders have eked out a living by improving the soil over generations with sand and seaweed.  Aran’s flora is as rich and exotic as that of the Burren.  Aran is also a bastion of Irish culture.  Irish is still the everyday language of most islanders, making it the strongest Gaeltacht in the country. The guided holiday of a lifetime.

Traditional Ireland - Guided Holiday

North Kerry, being less mountainous than the rest of the county, is good agricultural land.  It is rich in historical sites such as the castles of Ballyheigue, Rahoneen, Carrigafoyle) and the abbeys of Ardfert, Rattoo, Lislaughtin).  Historically the most important site is Ardfert, a missionary centre found by St. Erc in the 5th century.  St. Brendan was educated here and also established a monastery here. It has a 13th century cathedral, along with several other ecclesiastical buildings, and remained a diocesan centre until 1660.  The cliff scenery around Kerry Head, near Ballyheigue, rivals anything that Dingle has to offer, but is much less frequented. This is a marvellous guided walking holidays location.

Achill Island & the Mayo Coast

The area is known for its interplay with light and water.  The rocks and cliffs are given a magical pink or reddish hue when sunlight falls on them as it sets in the evening Western sky. Irish is spoken in these districts and the people are just waiting to welcome you with a warmth that has to be experienced to be appreciated. For the history lover and heritage, mythology or folklore lovers – this area has everything for the perfect guided walking holiday!

Discover Donegal Guided Holiday

Geographically speaking, Donegal is a county of contradictions: it contains the northernmost point in the whole of Ireland - Malin Head on the remote Inishowen Peninsula and yet it is in ‘the South’ (Republic of Ireland).  It is in Ulster (i.e. the nine-county province), but not in Northern Ireland.  The county is very sparsely populated, with large tracts of land being uninhabited and a good deal of the open land and grazing country covered by blanket bogs. Yours to explore in our guided walking holidays!

Achill Island - Mini Break Guided Holiday

Day 1 of your guided walking holiday: Arrive at our B&B in Achill. The secluded valley of Keem and its sandy beach on the Western tip of Achill is only a short walk away. Keem Bay is an idyllic spot tucked between the Croaghaun Mountain in the North and spectacular cliffs in the West. When we return home, we will have an evening meal together and a general chat about the coming day’s walks. Overnight in our accommodation in Dooagh.

Antrim Glens and Causeway Guided Holiday

Rathlin was the first landing place of the Vikings during their raids and subsequent colonisation of Ireland.  The island’s historical links are not only with the Irish mainland, but also with Scotland.  The sea was a highway rather than a barrier.  Bruce’s Cave, where Robert the Bruce is said to have been inspired by the tenacity and persistence of a spider climbing a wall, is near the East Lighthouse.  This made him determined to return to Scotland and to ‘try, try and try again’ until he succeeded in gaining the Crown. This is a guided walking holiday with a difference.

Wicklow Self-Guiding Holiday 8-Day Programme

The jewel of Wicklow is undoubtedly Glendalough, ‘the valley of the two lakes’ where St. Kevin founded a monastery in the 6th century.  A number of buildings remain (mainly from the 10th and 11th centuries), including the cathedral, a chapel known as St. Kevin’s Kitchen, the round tower and several subsidiary churches.  The nearby interpretative centre has an audio-visual presentation on monastic life in Ireland and a scale model showing how the monastic city looked in its heyday.
